Prayers for peace in Syria and Egypt

Rome, 26th August 2013

Dear Brothers in the Incarnate Word,

It is well known that in the war that has long hit Syria there has been constantly increasing violence. The news of recent days indicates a worsening of the conflict, which seems to be far from reaching a solution. Our Christian brothers are the most affected, and there is evidence of numerous martyrdoms in the hands of Islamist hordes. Similarly, the situation in Egypt is extremely delicate, where in the past week, more than 60 Christian churches and religious houses were burnt down, putting the country in danger of a civil war and unleashing a persecution against Christians.

The Holy Father Francis, during the recitation of the Angelus last Sunday in Rome, resolutely called for peace, appealing to the authorities of the international community to make every effort to find a solution that will bring back peace to Syria. The Pope also urged us to unceasingly invoke the Queen of Peace that she may intercede with her Son and grant the gift of peace to these martyred regions.

The General Government of the Institute, echoing the call of the Pope and that of a proposal received from our monks, and in agreement with the General Government of the Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará, has decided to summon all the religious of our religious family to pray and offer sacrifices for peace in Syria and Egypt. In a particular manner, we propose that in all our houses and apostolic works (parishes, Houses of Mercy, schools, etc..), the coming Sunday, September 1, be a special day dedicated to prayer for peace, especially offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Altar for this intention, and asking our communities and parishioners to pray for the same purpose.  As I had told you in my previous circular, in which we had convoked a similar day of prayer on 23rd December, we place our complete trust in the words of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who said:  “I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Mt 18,19-20).

In particular, we ask you to remember our missionaries who are in these tormented regions, and also the parishioners and beneficiaries of our missions there.

We put these intentions in the hands of Mary, Queen of Peace and Mother of the Prince of Peace.

In the Incarnate Word and His Blessed Mother,

Dear All in the Incarnate Word,

On the day of the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the day in which we also recall the specific end of our Institute of the Incarnate Word, I send my regards to everyone with the desire that you are doing well.

I have attached a document t that I have prepared regarding the relationship that exists between love and the observance of the Constitutions and the personal sanctification and the apostolate of the religious, hoping that it will be of spiritual benefit to you. (Download here: El-Religioso-y-las-Constituciones)

I remember you in my prayers.

Wish you all a blessed day!

May Mary Most Holy grant us to be faithful to the mission that the Lord has given us.

Rome, 14th of March, 2013

Your Holiness,

I write to you in my capacity as Superior General of the Institute of the Incarnate Word to congratulate you on your election as the Successor of Saint Peter.

I wish to express our total availability and obedience in the arduous task of the New Evangelization. At the same time, I wish to inform you that our missionaries – the majority of them fellow Argentines – who are spread out throughout the five continents pray for you and commend themselves to your prayers. In a particular way, those who give testimony of Christian charity in very difficult places, such as Gaza, Aleppo, Baghdad, and in the ex-USSR. Today, all of them unite their hearts to yours in Rome.

On a more personal level, I would like to mention that I am the nephew of Father Eduardo Peralta Ramos and the first cousin of Father Juan Luis Moyano Walker, both Jesuit priests and now deceased, and the nephew of José Peralta Ramos.

May Our Lady of Luján, Patroness of Argentina, intercede for you and make fruitful your Petrine Ministry in the service of the Universal Church.

Humbly requesting your blessing upon our small Institute, I remain

Devotedly yours in Christ,

Fr. Carlos Walker, IVE

General Superior

Prayers for Pope Francis

Rome 14th March, 2013

Dear Father Provincials,

Last evening, we had the grace of being present in St. Peter’s Square when the white smoke was seen. It was a very special moment: The Square was filled with people who were praying under the rain with an incredible spirit and with a very contagious joy. There were people from all over the world: youth, elderly, religious, mothers with babies…

Last evening, we have again had the consoling fact of the election of a new Successor of St. Peter, “the Pope, the incarnate presence of the Truth, the Will and the Holiness of Christ”, which is “intimately united to the mystery of our religion, Who was manifested in the flesh (1 Tim 3:16), and therefore to our love” (Constitutions 12). In this concrete case, moreover, it has been the first Pope from Argentina, the place where our small religious family was born.

Hereby, I request you to invite all the houses in your respective jurisdictions to celebrate Masses of thanksgiving, for the intentions of His Holiness Pope Francis and for the fruits of his pontificate.

A warm farewell in Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary,

Fr. Carlos Walker

Superior General
