Rome, 14th of March, 2013

Your Holiness,

I write to you in my capacity as Superior General of the Institute of the Incarnate Word to congratulate you on your election as the Successor of Saint Peter.

I wish to express our total availability and obedience in the arduous task of the New Evangelization. At the same time, I wish to inform you that our missionaries – the majority of them fellow Argentines – who are spread out throughout the five continents pray for you and commend themselves to your prayers. In a particular way, those who give testimony of Christian charity in very difficult places, such as Gaza, Aleppo, Baghdad, and in the ex-USSR. Today, all of them unite their hearts to yours in Rome.

On a more personal level, I would like to mention that I am the nephew of Father Eduardo Peralta Ramos and the first cousin of Father Juan Luis Moyano Walker, both Jesuit priests and now deceased, and the nephew of José Peralta Ramos.

May Our Lady of Luján, Patroness of Argentina, intercede for you and make fruitful your Petrine Ministry in the service of the Universal Church.

Humbly requesting your blessing upon our small Institute, I remain

Devotedly yours in Christ,

Fr. Carlos Walker, IVE

General Superior

Prayers for Pope Francis

Rome 14th March, 2013

Dear Father Provincials,

Last evening, we had the grace of being present in St. Peter’s Square when the white smoke was seen. It was a very special moment: The Square was filled with people who were praying under the rain with an incredible spirit and with a very contagious joy. There were people from all over the world: youth, elderly, religious, mothers with babies…

Last evening, we have again had the consoling fact of the election of a new Successor of St. Peter, “the Pope, the incarnate presence of the Truth, the Will and the Holiness of Christ”, which is “intimately united to the mystery of our religion, Who was manifested in the flesh (1 Tim 3:16), and therefore to our love” (Constitutions 12). In this concrete case, moreover, it has been the first Pope from Argentina, the place where our small religious family was born.

Hereby, I request you to invite all the houses in your respective jurisdictions to celebrate Masses of thanksgiving, for the intentions of His Holiness Pope Francis and for the fruits of his pontificate.

A warm farewell in Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary,

Fr. Carlos Walker

Superior General

Visit of Fr. Walker to Iceland

Posted by Fr. Carlos Walker, IVE on March 08, 2013
Iceland, Pastoral visits / Comments Off on Visit of Fr. Walker to Iceland

Last week we had the joy of welcoming our General Superior Fr. Carlos Walker. He arrived on Friday afternoon, and was able to see the Servidoras in action with the children of the Oratory.

Over the weekend, Fr. Carlos accompanied us during the Masses for the different Filipino and Icelandic communities.

On Monday, he met with the Bishop of Iceland and in the evening, he presided and preached at the Mass during the formation meeting for the IVE religious family who were working in the island (6 sisters and 2 priests).

On Tuesday, he accompanied us in the Mass presided by the Bishop, in which 13 priests concelebrated – the ones who are working in these lands. The intention for the Mass was to thank God for the eight years of the pontificate of Benedict XVI. After the Mass, we had dinner in the bishop’s residence, as we always do at the end of every clerical reunion. Fr. Walker, at the request of the bishop, addressed a few words to the priests in which he thanked them for the example and the work which they do for the Church in a country as special as Iceland.
On Wednesday we visited the northernmost foundation of SSVM. Fr. Walker got to know the beautiful village of Stykkishólmur where the sisters maintain the Catholic presence.

Early on Thursday, we said goodbye to Father at the airport.

We thank God for all the benefits received during the visit of our General Superior, and we also thank Fr. Carlos for his generous availability.
